Opinion
As mentioned on the website of this journal, the goal of the journal is to publish articles on new and emerging fields and concepts for providing future directions to promote agricultural research globally. It is a unique journal covering all the disciplines of crop sciences, animal sciences, fishery sciences, forestry sciences and natural resources management sciences, to stimulate interest in inter-disciplinary research.
As stated on the magazine’s website, this journal catalyze policy development on issues impacting rational agricultural growth and development globally. To be honest , activity of this magazine is very good and important.
General view
I have read plenty of articles in this scientific journal over the last two years. This scientific journal evaluates a wide range extensive issues. I am convinced, that mostly high-quality articles are published here because of a wide range of agricultural problems are solved here. However, i believe, which may be my subjective opinion, that some publications, despite their high quality have a lack of more comprehensive view of the evaluated issues. I am thinking of scientific fields that are related to the problem being solved.
For some articles (it‘s just only my private opinion), a more comprehensive view of the presented results could be also with the utilisation of results from the other related scientific fields, i.e for using in future research and practical use. The more complex is the scientific view of the analysed issue, the more suitable are obtained results for practical use and in future research continuation.
Plants physiology and biology, problem of plant integrity.
Plant integrity looks like as a “very easy topic,” but the reality is .very different. In lot of scientific fields , “thanks” to and rigid specialization of scientists”, we are losing a holistic view of plants.
It is necessary to analyse plant complexity – plant traits , as well as physiological functions across their life cycles. Complex research is the connection of biology, plant nutrition, ecology, and other disciplines, is hardly observable in scientific articles in agricultural research and it is also important in ecological analyzes. Research of crop productivity is very complex problem, because there is also problem of tolerance to abiotic and biotic stresses, plant disease and pests, etc. all thisc traits represent the problem of plant integrity. Good plant performance and also stable crop varieties demonstrate superior traits for all types of observed characteristics and in all environmental conditions.
In every field of plant science , attention needs to be paid to plant integrity and adaptability during variable environmental conditions. Every plant, and its traits, is a result of all the plant‘s physiological activities and environmetal conditions. This is important for plant breeding, agronomy and for crop production.
There is basic question : Which type of scientific work will submit better information about objective „reality“ of the plants at different environmental conditions ? I think the answer is clear.Complex analysis.
Explanatory power of statistical analysis.
After my view, sometimes from time to time there is problem, that the experiment is based in a different way than is required by the applied statistical analysis or an inappropriate statistical method is applied on the utilised method of setting up experiments.
Possible solution?
Personally i believe that the occasional gradual publication of monothematic issues of this jornal would contribute to improving awareness about complexity of agronomic problems (one topic supplemented presented by several articles from different scientific disciplines relating to the topic). Wider topics would probably have to be analyzed per partes.
This path is probably also very effective, we can get a broad analysis of given problem in one issue of magazin.
It can be stated that complex research, i.e. the connection of biology, plant is seldom observable nutrition, soil analysis, ecology, and lot of other disciplines, is hardly observable in most scientific work which we read in scientific agricultural articles.
I suppose, that only such an integrated approach can allow us to reach the correct interpretations for experimental results.
The effect of plant integrity and of aboveground and belowground signaling by different traits and reactions is important subject of scientific research and can give more precise informations about analysed crops at given conditions.
Similar examples concerning of comprehensive research can be given in soil science, climatology, in the issue of irrigation, i.e. in lot of agricultural fields, but not in all analysed cases.
