mathematical formulas, models and methods for measuring, comparing and forecasting spatial and environmental changes at the landscape level. These methods are not case-specific or statistical; they are algebraic, algorithmic, topological, and thus have universal applicability.
Fivos Papadimitriou studied geology (B.Sc.), physics (M.Sc.), environmental resources (M.Sc.) and education (M.Ed.), and gained doctorates in Geography from the University of Budapest (Ph.D.) and from the University of Oxford (D.Phi.Oxon.). He taught at Universities for several years and accomplished cooperations or field researches in several countries (Europe, Asia, S.America). He is member of the Editorial Boards of the ISI-listed journals “Irgee” and “Computational Ecology & Software”, and has received numerous prizes, grants, awards, fellowships and distinctions. His main contributions to science consist in the creation of new algebraic, algorithmic and topological formulas and models for landscape complexity analysis, while his papers have been cited by scientists from fifty-nine countries. Aside of these, he also maintains vivid research interests in geographical education and cyber-geography.
