Esra Nutku-Bilir is a medical and science professional with more than 15 years of experience in basic and clinical research and development. She earned her MD degree from Marmara University, Turkey. She completed a PhD degree in molecular immunology, in 2001, at McGill University, Montreal, Canada. She continued her post-doctorate research work at Johns Hopkins University, Department of Medicine, Baltimore and National Jewish Medical and Research Hospital, Department of Immunology and Microbiology. She defined a novel function for a newly discovered protein during her studies and authored in thirteen peer-reviewed publications, seventeen abstracts, three book chapters, and presented her work number of national and international conferences. Muhammad Afzal is a clinical gastroenterologist with 20 years experience in medicine and healthcare teaching. He graduated from Allama Iqbal Medical College, University of the Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan in 1994. After doing his internship and medical resident training in Lahore, he moved to the UK in 2001. Here after passing the MRCP UK exam, he entered specialist training programme in gastroenterology and general internal medicine in Oct 2003. Rotating through 7 different hospitals in 3 different regions of the UK, he completed the training in Dec. 2009. He was granted CCT (Certificate of completion of training) in gastroenterology and GIM in Jan 2010. He then moved to the Middle East in September 2010 and took up a consultant role at King Abdulaziz Medical City, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This is the largest health facility managed by the Ministry of National Guard Health Affairs which is one of the biggest health organisations in the Middle East. During his 5 years stay there, he achieved the European Board of Gastroenterology and Hepatology in March 2011 and was elected as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh in June 2013. In recognition of his continued involvement with under graduate teaching, he was appointed as assistant professor of medicine at the College of Medicine, King Saud Bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences, Riyadh. He moved back to the UK in August 2015 and joined the Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust where he is working at present as consultant physician and gastroenterologist. Dr. Ahmed AlOmair has earned his MBBS from King Saud University Medical College in Riyadh, then he was certified with Arab Board + Saudi Board internal medicine at 1994, that was followed by 2 years local GI training at KKUH (before the structured Saudi GI training program) and by mid of 1999 he finished further 2 years Clinical Hepatology fellowship program from the University of Toronto (Ca.). He worked as Clinical Hepatology consultant at KFNGH liver transplant center from 1999 till 2005, and on November 2005 he joined KFMC as gastroenterology & hepatology consultant and head of GI/Hepatology section. He worked with his other colleagues at KFMC to establish and expand the GI section & adult GI Endoscopy at medical department of the Main Hospital. He stepped down from section head on November 2010, and continued his clinical & educational contributions within the department. Manage with other colleagues to gain recognition of the KFMC GI/Hepatology service by SCFHS as one of the Saudi GI fellowship training centers, and since then having 2-3 GI fellows on regular basis. Likewise, organized 2 successful international workshops on IBD and EUS that are repeated almost every 2 years since started. He was the first elected president of the Saudi Association of liver diseases & transplantation (SASLT) and together with others he shared in developing the society and formulating the Saudi guidelines for HBV, HCV and HCC managements. He was a member of the Saudi Liver National Committee under MOH and was actively involved in many leading plans and reviews related to Liver Disease Burden. He was appointed as Medical Director of KFMC Main Hospital on January 2014, and since then has worked to empower and expand MH services. During this period was exposed to several Leadership skills, Business Management Tools and communications skills. Siddhartha Kumar Mishra is faculty of Biological Sciences at Central University, Sagar, India. He did Ph.D. in Biochemistry from CSIR-CIMAP, Lucknow (India) in the year 2009 in the area of protein biochemistry. Then he worked as postdoctoral researcher in the area of hepatitis and liver cancer at G.B. Pant Hospital (affiliated to Delhi University), New Delhi (India). He studied the molecular mechanism involved in HBV replication and virus-host interaction in chronic hepatitis B patients. The basic research included HBV DNA isolation, qualification and genotyping and virus genome mutation using advanced methodologies. Also investigated the antiviral effects of herbal preparations and phytochemicals against hepatitis B virus and liver carcinoma. The postdoctoral research was further continued in South Korea during 2010-2013 at Ajou University Suwon, National Cancer Center Seoul, and Gachon University Incheon. During this time and currently the major research work aims is to investigate the anticancer efficacy of natural products and other synthetic agents for development of sustainable and specific drugs in cancer therapy for humankind. Investigated the effect of a medicinal mushroom Inonotus obliquus against intestinal inflammation and colorectal cancer in cell cultures and mice models. Also studied the effect of midazolam anesthesia for its anticancer properties in human leukemia and colorectal cancer cell lines and in mice models. Studied the role of IGF1R SNPs and compared the frequencies of genotypes in associations with breast cancer risk. Also studied the expression of stress inducible gene, Growth Arrest and DNA Damage-inducible 45β (Gadd45β), and its transcriptional regulation in hypoxia exposed rat heart-derived cardiac cells and in vivo rat models.

He is Post graduate teacher and member of both postgraduate and undergraduate board of studies as well as Academic council at University of Health Sciences, Rohtak. He was got first prize i.e. N.L.Patney Award in paper presentation on Hepatitis C Epidemic in Haryana at IAMCON-2013 at Kota and IACMCON-2015 at Ludhiana. He was awarded twice for best Paper award at APICON- 2014 & 16. He is Principal Nodal officer of dedicated Hepatitis C center, first of its kind in India where free treatment is being given to patients suffering from above disease. The total number of patients treated up till now is 4000 and with success rate of 90% which is highest in India. Approximately 1500 patients are currently on treatment. Free screening camps are being held regularly in areas with high prevalence to detect maximum number of patients and treat them effectively. The Department is performing 750 diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic and colonoscopic procedures/ month that too total free of cost to all the patients. There is 24 hours emergency back up for the needy patients. Everyday gastroenterology O.P.D runs and approx. 200 patients are treated in each OPD and given free medicines and tests from hospital. A dedicated Celiac Clinic is effectively working and around 300 patients are currently on follow up.

Giovanni D Tebala attended the School of Medicine of the Catholic University from 1985 to 1992 and got the Medical Degree in 1992. From 1993 to 1994 he was head of the Medical Service of the 8th Support Division of the Italian Army in Rome. Subsequently, he trained in General Surgery at the Catholic University of Rome, getting his specialization degree in 1999. During this period and afterwards he got an advanced training in Hepatobiliary Surgery, Colorectal and Upper GI surgery, Laparoscopic Surgery and Trauma Surgery and became ATLS provider and instructor. Afterwards, he worked as alocum Consultant at the Celano (Italy) Hospital for 1 year. From 2000 to 2013 he was Consultant Surgeon at the Aurelia Hospital in Rome and in 2007 was appointed as Lead Consultant for Gastrointestinal and Laparoendoscopic Surgery in the same hospital. He has always been keen to teach and train medical students and surgical trainees, so he was Visiting Professor of Anatomy at the Catholic University of Rome and Campobasso (Italy) and at the "Claudiana" Medical School of Bozen (Italy) and Visiting Professor of Surgery at the "Tor Vergata" University of Rome. Following his deep aspirations and looking for new challenges and experiences, he decided to move to the UK and was appointed as a Consultant in General and Gastrointestinal Surgery at the Nobles Hospital of the Isle of Man in 2013. From 2015 he is Clinical Director of the Division of Surgery at the same hospital. He is also Chairman of the Colorectal Multidisciplinary Team. He is Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and Member of the Association of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland, the Association of Italian Hospital Surgeons, the Italian Society of Surgery, the European Association of Endoscopic Surgeons. Moreover, he founded two medical no-profit societies, the Association "Ulisse" for the Medical and Surgical Sciences and the Association for Oncologic Prevention and Research, both in Rome. He is Author or coauthor of more than 80 scientific papers, most of them published in international journals. He is Scoutmaster of the Association of Italian Catholic Girl Guides and Boy Scouts, belonging to the World Organization of the Scout Movement.
