Due to the existence of active chemicals, medicinal plants were a significant source of medications. Many popular medications are produced from plants, either directly or indirectly. Despite modern medication discovery and production using synthetic chemistry as a vehicle, plants continue to make a significant contribution to disease treatment and prevention. Even at the arrival of the twenty-first century, we are still depending upon plant based drugs. Indian medicinal system Ayurveda, Siddha, folk and traditional medicinal system are totally plant based medicinal system. Although lots of pharmaceutical research is going on in diverse field but there are still many avenues that need to be explored. In the present article we are trying to explore different disease outbreaks and few important medicines that are successfully accepted and adopted by FDA and are used for treatment of different disease which are completely plant based.
