§ Female subjects.
§ Having an Asian skin type.
§ Ability to read and write Thai language.
§ Having all skin types (dry, normal, combination or greasy skin type).
§ Between 55 – 70 years old, similarly distributed between the 2 groups.
§ Skin phototype III or IV according to Fitzpatrick’s scale.
§ Having rough skin.
§ Having crow’s feet wrinkles with a grade ≥3 (according to the scale pages 40-41 of the book “Skin Aging Atlas – Vol 2. Asian type – R. Bazin and F. Flament”).
§ Having a dull complexion according to the CLBT scale from DermaProof Asia.
§ Having one or several visible dark spots on the face stable for at least 6 months.
§ Having at least one dark spot on the cheek with a diameter of 2.5mm minimum.
§ Accepting to not modify their nutrition habits during the study period.
§ Having good health (no evolutive infectious pathology that could weaken the subject and oblige her to interrupt the study, no pathology that could interfere with this study, no symptoms during the time course of this investigation).
§ Skin at assessed areas is healthy (free of psoriasis, eczema, erythema, edema, scars, wounds or lesion).
§ Not having ingested oral supplements for at least one month and accepting not to take oral supplements (excepted the tested one) during the study period.
§ Having body weight not over than 55kg.
§ Subject is an employee of DermaProof Asia.
§ Being or suspecting to be pregnant or breastfeeding or having stopped to breastfeed in the past three months (using a urine pregnancy test).
§ Having refused to give their consent by not signing the informed consent form.
§ Taking part in another study liable to interfere with this study.
§ Being insulin-dependent diabetic or non-insulin-dependent diabetic.
§ Having non-stabilized thyroid problems (requirement of a stabilized treatment for at least 6 months).
§ Having a progressive asthma (either under treatment or last fit in the last 2 years).
§ Being epileptic.
§ Having a diagnosed or highly probable allergy to one or several compounds of cosmetic products, or food products (fish).
§ Having a diagnosed or highly probable allergy to fish.
§ Following a medicinal treatment chronically or during the test period including any of the following products: aspirin-based products, anti-inflammatories, anti-histamines, corticotherapy, taken by general or local routes (the only medication permitted is paracetamol).
§ Having undergone a surgery requiring general anesthetic of more than one hour in the past 6 months.
§ Having changed the cosmetic habits except those required by the protocol in the 2 weeks preceding the start of the study on the studied anatomic unit.
§ Having applied any cosmetic products on the studied areas (including make-up) the first day of the study (face cleansed with water only).
§ Presenting a permanent or temporary tattoo on the studied area(s), impeding the location of the measurement sites and/or the acquisitions.
§ Having started, changed or stopped a Hormone Replacement Therapy in the past 6 months.
§ Having taken a DHEA-based treatment in the previous 6 months.
§ Having made injections of anti-wrinkle products (collagen, hyaluronic acid, botulinic toxin…) in the previous 12 months.
§ Having undergone techniques with aesthetic aim (chemical peel, mechanical dermabrasion, laser, pulsed flash lamp …) in the previous year.
§ Having undergone surgery of the skin-muscular slackening on the face (lifting) in the previous 5 years.
§ Having taken food supplements (vitamin C, beta-carotene, etc…) in the past 3 months.
§ Having performed or received any beauty treatment (e.g. deep cleansing, scrub, mask …) in the week preceding the start of the study.
§ Having taken a medicinal treatment which could lead to hyper pigmentation (phenytoïn, amiodarone, metals, minocycline…) in the previous 6 months.
§ Having taken an oral retinoid-based treatment in the past 6 months.
§ Having applied products with an anti-wrinkle action, particularly firming products (Retinoic acid, retinol, retinaldehyde, A.H.A….) in the 2 weeks preceding the start of the study.
§ Having applied any whitening product on their face at least 4 weeks before the beginning of the study.
§ Having applied a moisturising product on the studied areas in the 48 hours preceding the start of the study (only the non-moisturising usual cleanser is allowed).
§ Having started, changed or stopped their tobacco consumption (for smokers consuming more than 10 cigarettes per day) in the previous 6 months.
§ Having intentionally exposed themselves to the sun or to artificial UV light in the month preceding the start of the study.
§ Having washed their hair on the first day of the study.
§ Having practiced water activities (swimming pool, sauna, hammam, balneotherapy...) in the previous week.
§ Having consumed caffeine-based products (coffee, cola, tea…), alcohol, highly spicy food and/or having smoked in the two hours preceding the measurements.
§ Having practiced sport the day of start of the study.
§ Having numerous pigmentation spots (actinic lentigo, melasma, freckles…) on the face.
§ Having erythematous areas (acne, blotchiness, inflammatory scar, angioma…) on the face.
§ Having a diagnosed or highly probable allergy to fish and/or seafood.
§ Having liver disease (cirrhosis, hepatitis) or kidney disease.
§ Drinking more than 2 alcohol glass per day.
§ Having followed a particular diet in the previous 2 months (hypocaloric, gluten-free, vegan, vegetarian, hyperproteic).
§ Having a Body Mass Index (BMI) superior to 27.5kg.m-2.
§ Refusing to follow the restrictions below during the study:
- Do not become pregnant or breastfeed.
- Do not take part in another study liable to interfere with this study.
- Do not take medicinal treatment including any of the following products: aspirin-based products, anti-inflammatories, anti-histamines, anti-coagulants, corticotherapy, taken by general or local routes (the only medication permitted is paracetamol).
- Do not change your cosmetic habits apart from the particular conditions mentioned in the protocol, on the studied area(s).
- Do not take other food supplement products and cosmetic product than the tested product(s) on the studied area(s). Only the usual cleanser and make-up for the lips, eyes, blusher in powder and sunscreen can be regularly used as normal, but changing/interrupting is not allowed.
- Do not tattoo on the studied area(s) during the study period.
- Do not empty the pot/tube or distribute or share the test product(s) to someone else during the test period.
- Do not start, change or stop a Hormone Replacement Therapy.
- Do not start a DHEA-based treatment.
- Do not use products or techniques or surgery with an anti-wrinkles and/or firming action.
- Do not expose yourself to the sun by respecting a strict photo-protection (umbrella, hat..).
- Do not use any whitening/ anti-wrinkle/ anti-ageing cosmetics on the tested area during the study.
- Do not start change or stop your tobacco consumption (for smokers consuming more than 10 cigarettes per day).
- Do not take food supplements (vitamin C, beta-carotene, etc…).
- Do not perform or receive any beauty treatment (e.g. deep cleansing, scrub, mask …).
- Do not start a medicinal treatment which could lead to hyper pigmentation.
- Do not begin to use any SPF cream on the tested area during the study. In case of usual use of SPF cream on the tested area, the SPF factor must not change during the study.
- Do not start any oral or local retinoid-based treatment.
- Do not practice water activities (swimming pool, sauna, hammam, balneotherapy...).
- Do not expose yourself to the sun with the intention to sunbathe (activities outside which do not last for too long are authorized).
The day of the measurements:
- No cosmetic product must be used (only face cleansed with water is accepted).
- Do not wash your hair on the days of visit in DermaProof Asia.
- Do not consume caffeine-based products (coffee, cola, tea …), alcohol, highly spicy food or smoke in the two hours preceding the measurements each day of study.
- Do not practice sport the days of study.
