Introduction
The study of science and technology consist of in a very minute careful observation of nature and natural landscapes in 21st-century Bangladesh. Man is ever trying utmost to take a controlling power upon the mystery of nature. Science and technology have brought about a revolutionary change at every stage of human life around the globe. Now we can see the influence of science and technology at every corner of the country.
Science as well as technology is the driving force of postmodern civilization in 21st-century Bangladesh. It is the systematic investigation of nature and it employs its forces to social purpose. The greater is the control of the people upon nature, the more post-civilized it is. Hence the progress of civilization is dependent on the development of science and technology. Postmodern civilization with its amenities of our life may be called the product of postmodern science and technology in 21st-century Bangladesh. It is by the grace of science and technology that we can talk over the mobile or send e-message via e-mail correspondence around the glove with a very single moment just clocking the mouse. We can illuminate cities and ports, erect hanging bridges over Great Ocean and big rivers around the globe. It can even change the courses of rivers and bring down rain from artificial clouds. Steamers, train, plane, rocket, atomic energy, missile attack-all are the gifts of science [1,2].
With the passage of time everything is changing swiftly. Now we are relying upon science and technology at every sphere of our life. We live in the age of science and technology or in the postmodern era. We can see the wonders of science and technology across the country. Science has made our life easy and comfortable. We can't think of our existence without the blessings of science and technology. Medical science has lessened human sufferings. It has given eyes to the blind, hearing to the deaf, legs to the lame. It has found out that the new ways of human health and life. It has increased the joys of life. Penicillin, X-ray, biopsy, and ultra-nosography, ECG are some of the wonderful inventions of science and technology in the field of medical science. Hospitals, private clinics, and doctors cannot go even in a single day without these.
The blessings of science and technology are too many to describe at one place. Take the case of a postmodern city or a town of Bangladesh which enjoys mostly the gifts of science. A postmodern urban cityis planned scientifically. Communication and sanitation are maintained by science and technology. Streets and houses are lighted by science. Cinema shows, radio, electric fans are all gifts of science. Motor cars, telephones, televisions are all made by science. Again, scientific and technological machines purify and supply drinking water. Mills and factories are run with the help of science and technology. Postmodern industry cannot grow without science.
Rural people are also influenced by scientific and technological invention in their daily life. They so long moved in bullock carts from one place to another and used handloom cloth and indigenous medicines. But, today their journey to a distance place cannot be done without railway and steamer. They use buses when they pass along highways. During dark nights they use torch lights and during leisure time they listen to stereo-cassettes and transistors.
Conclusion
Our 21st-century Bangladesh is independent, the attitude of our Government has considerably changed in favour of science and technology. The Government is convinced that the development schemes of the country will remain a dream without scientific and technological knowledge and technical know-how. Hence all-out efforts are being made to promote the study of science and technology. Science and technology have already been introduced in secondary level of Bangladesh Educational Institutions as an independent branch of study. Generous grants-in-aid-are sanctioned for academic education in science and technology in Bangladesh. The people of our country are now convinced that national progress means development in science and technology. They have realized that all our development schemes will remain merely paper plans, unless they are taken up by indigenous scientists. The study of science and technology, is, therefore, an urgent national duty for our younger generation in 21st-century Bangladesh.
